Reason for the award

This project involved constructing new pavement on the Higashi Kyushu Expressway between Saiki and Kamae, commissioned by the Saiki River and the National Highway Office. The Expressway was scheduled to open in March 2015. The construction section involved tunnel construction at two sites and erosion control dam construction at three sites, requiring coordination with other construction projects. Therefore, a weekly progress meeting was conducted to ensure proactive planning and coordination.

The Safety Council chair facilitated coordination and communication across various construction projects. Originally contracted for pavement construction, the project additionally involved building weirs and water channels for erosion control dams after amending the contract. These tasks were completed successfully before the Expressway’s opening day, leading to high praise and an award.
