Reason for the award
This project included constructing pavement for a new section of the Higashi Kyushu Expressway. Because of the predetermined opening date of the Expressway, there was a need to shorten the construction period for this project. The contractor, NEXCO, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism held extensive meetings to discuss the construction procedure. During these meetings, suggestions were actively proposed, such as replacing on-site concrete casting with prefabricated concrete products for concrete structures. These changes significantly contributed to shortening the construction period, resulting in the project being completed successfully about one month before the scheduled opening day. Up to six teams worked simultaneously on the construction, extending the accident-free construction hours to 100,000. This achievement resulted in a high evaluation score.
