Reason for the award
This construction project repaired sections of the main regional road, Souma-Watari Road, and another road. These sections had suffered extensive damage from heavy traffic of large vehicles related to disaster restoration efforts. The road surfaces were restored through on-site base course recycling construction. The award was granted for building positive relationships with stakeholders and achieved through the project contractor’s prompt responsiveness to client and local resident requests. It also acknowledged various innovative ideas implemented in the project, such as using decomposition-accelerating emulsion and environmentally friendly construction signs certified by Miyagi Prefecture.
Additionally, the project employed ICT technologies for initial measurements, completion management, and ground leveling work with motor graders. In particular, the machine control led to improved pavement flatness, achieving a desirable outcome.
