Pavement repair work on Hiroshima Airport Road, a major regional road

Area of milling and overlay = 1,070 m²　
Area of bridge pavement replacement = 1,440 m²

This construction site was located on a road connecting the Sanyo Expressway and Hiroshima Airport. It involved repairing the pavement on the bridge and earthwork sections. As part of the construction requirements, it had to be executed concurrently with the pavement repair work mandated by NEXCO West during the same construction period and hours. Despite this challenging requirement, the construction was completed smoothly and on schedule facilitated by frequent communication with stakeholders and contractors. Initially, sheet waterproofing was planned for the bridge surface. However, following findings from drilling investigations on the roadbed, the plan was changed to the multi-fresh method to extend the service life. Additionally, the idea of using L-seal tape (molded water cut-off material for bridge ends) was also implemented. Other ideas included utilizing ICT for road surface scraping, employing young engineers, and implementing longer service life technologies registered with Hiroshima Prefecture (SUPER TACKZOL). These efforts were recognized and commended overall.
