Reason for the award
This project encompassed several tasks across various sections – Rokuhara Sections 1 and 2, Nakajima Section, Mikajiri Section, and four other locations. The tasks included road surface scraping, on-road processing using recycled cement and asphalt emulsion for stabilization, roadbed construction via heated asphalt stabilization, and subsequent base layer and surface layer installation. This construction project utilized ICT-based road surface scraping, which marked the first attempt in Iwate Prefecture as specified by the client. The process involved integrated three-dimensional surveying and design data utilizing three-dimensional machine control with RTK-GNSS for precise scraping. This initiative aimed to reduce labor, shorten the construction period, and improve accuracy. As part of the regional contribution activities, an on-site observation opportunity was proposed to Kurosawajiri Technical High School after their internship program was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the visit, students observed ICT-based construction techniques, such as road surface scraping and automatic marking robots. They also participated in an asphalt pavement lecture and engaged in light-duty tasks. This session provided students with insights into public works and the importance of roads, while fostering valuable communication with the local community.
