Reason for the award
A concrete mixer truck overturned near the Kurate Interchange on the uphill route of the Kyushu Expressway spilling fresh concrete onto the road. As a result of this accident, the Expressway was closed between the Kurate and Koga interchanges from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In an emergency repair, the damaged road surface was milled and overlayed. The award recognized the swift cooperation in reopening the Expressway after the accident.
