Methods
MR² - AB Method
Pre-removal of manhole covers and re-installation after surface course application
Outline
The MR2-AB Method is used in milling, overlay, and re-pavement work to eliminate level differences that arise when the manhole is exposed up to the binder course. To ensure safety, this technique first involves removing the manhole cover, performing a temporary repair, and then replacing the manhole cover after the surface course is completed. The pavement around a manhole is vulnerable to damage due to insufficient compaction. This technique prevents insufficient compaction, which can occur because of factors like temperature drops, because the pavement around a manhole is constructed with a cold mix. MR2 Hybrid is used as the surface course material.
Features
- The Manhole Remover operates with low noise and minimal vibration.
- Since this technique eliminates level differences around manholes, it reduces noise and vibration from through traffic.
- Since this technique eliminates level differences around manholes, this technique ensures pedestrian safety.
- This improves the final quality of the surface course installation by enhancing flatness and ensuring sufficient compaction density.
Applications
- Repairs in areas where noise and vibration need to be minimized, such as during nighttime and in residential areas
- Repairs in high-traffic areas and areas where road closures are not possible
- Repairs in areas where roads need to be reopened to traffic quickly
