Methods
Emultech Waterproofing Construction Method
Cold spray type waterproofing construction method
Outline
The Emultech waterproofing construction method creates a protective layer on the binder course to shield the existing binder asphalt mixture from rainwater in porous asphalt pavements (porous pavement).
The Emultech waterproofing construction method uses TAKUMIZOL, a highly concentrated modified asphalt emulsion with excellent grip, and ROMENCHIP, a pre-coated aggregate with superior bonding properties.
Since rainwater can infiltrate porous asphalt pavements, the aggregate may strip and cause early-stage damage if milling and overlay are performed without adequate waterproofing of the binder course.
Delaying damage to the binder course can help extend the pavement’s service life. Since cold mix application is possible, it does not emit CO2 from heating.
Features
- The excellent waterproofing properties prevent rainwater from seeping beneath the binder course, thereby extending the pavement’s service life.
- This product can be recycled as aggregate in future overlaying work.
- This product forms a high-quality waterproofing layer because of the precise application of aggregate and emulsion by the dedicated machine (Romen Mack II).
- This approach is more cost-effective than constructing a binder course as a waterproofing measure during milling and overlay.
Applications
- Waterproofing layer applied during the milling and overlay of porous asphalt (water-draining)
